Years ago, I let my love of books get pushed aside. It’s my fault, of course. My priorities changed. As many of us do, I worked and went to school, got married, had children, and worked on my teaching career. Reading was functional in learning my trade. Reading for pleasure became a luxury. There was always a pile of clothes to fold or papers to grade instead.
I am changing that for 2020! My kiddos are not so little anymore, and I changed careers, allowing my days to be a little freer than they used to be. Now, I can read and write more often. I am making it a priority again.
And thank goodness for audiobooks! Amiright?
So now I have no more excuses not begin a Goodreads challenge. I initially set my challenge for 25 books, but that bar was too low. It’s supposed to be a challenge. I was accounting for my old life. So now, it is set to 50.
So What Will I Read?
Well, my first goal is to read more from the writing community, small press, Indie authors, or traditionally published authors that don’t get the spotlight they deserve. There are so many authors I have not been introduced to. I would love to start with their work, perhaps writing reviews as I go.
There are of course some well-known books and authors that I would love to dig into. As I said, I have some catching up to do!
This list includes:
- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
- The Witcher Series by Andrzej Sapkowski (Loved the Netflix Show!)
- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
- Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone by Diana Gabaldon (Hoping it gets published this year!)
- The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson
My library card is current. My Kindle app is waiting for some love. Here we go!
Join me! Friend me on Goodreads and let’s be reading pals!
