Angst aplenty in Kiss of War. Leo and Eliana’s story of love (and lust) through hate is quite compelling. The characters are torn apart when Leo’s twin sister is murdered by Eliana’s father. A lot of misplaced anger leads to Leo making Eliana’s life absolutely miserable. Add to the fact that they are all ridiculously wealthy and you have a fair amount of Cruel Intentions-esque behavior.
I did wonder a few times while reading why Eliana would want anything to do with Leo. He goes out of his way to harass and traumatize her. One of the struggles with an enemies to lovers story is that there is a delicate balance to making sure the relationship doesn’t become irredeemable. Leo certainly flirts with that line.
I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and found some of her prose really lovely. I look forward to reading more works by her.
